Manchin Drops Out of 2024 Presidential Race

West Virginia Senator Cites Family, State Commitments

Decision Follows Months of Speculation and Public Pressure

Washington, D.C. - Senator Joe Manchin III (D-WV) has announced that he will not seek the presidency in 2024.

In a statement released Friday, Manchin said, "After much contemplation and discussion with my family, I have decided not to run for president in 2024. This was not an easy decision, but I believe it is the right one for me and my family."

Manchin's decision comes after months of speculation and public pressure. The senator had been seen as a potential candidate who could appeal to both Democrats and Republicans in a general election. However, he has also been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and has faced criticism from some within the Democratic Party for his conservative views on certain issues.

In his statement, Manchin said that his decision to retire at the end of his term was motivated by his desire to spend more time with his family and focus on his work in West Virginia.
